The Daisy Jacket Finished

This was such a fun project, I didn't want it to come to an end.
My original plan was to quickly make this jacket but it was such a pleasure to work on, that I pulled out all the fine tailoring techiniques to use in this jacket construction.

Bound buttonholes with the reclaimed reworked buttons.
How perfect the way the button design works with the fabric.

I was going to bag (technique) the lining but instead put it in by hand.
Bag linings are nice and quick but there is nothing like setting the lining in sections by hand.

Here, I tried to get a photo with me wearing the jacket.
I even learned the self timer on my camera
but...
Ralph the Dog thought that me racing to jump in front of the camera some new crazy fun kind of game.

Ralph is faster that I am, so I had a bunch of blurry dog head photos.
 tossing a doggie treat to distract him and I was able to get one quick photo.
Ralph the Dog is smart and he won't be fooled by the dog treat ploy again.

and maybe I should have changed out of my pajamas or at least tucked my top in
and I finished this jacket just in time for the heat and extreme humidity that will hang around until this fall

my timing was never good but this jacket will be waiting for me when the weather cools down in a few months

great pattern and I will probably make another
and I am thinking I may make the blouse
but without the clown buttons on the front as shown in the pattern
the little vent mock pocket tabs at the waist are cute

When my local thrift store has their $1 sale, I look specifically for clothing with good buttons to reuse. 
I found these daisy buttons a couple of months ago.
The buttons were cute, the jacket they were on - not so much.
A bit of bulking up the metal buttons and they are perfect for the jacket I am working on.

A 60's Chanel style jacket needs classic Chanel buttons.
This vintage pattern was a pleasure to make, it is drafted so nicely with all the pieces fitting together like a dream.

spray painted 1" drapery rings with black matte spray paint
cut a 2" circle from black silk fabric
gather along the edge of the circle for the drapery ring
make a small hole in the center to accomodate the button shank

still have to make the buttonholes and put the lining in but I am close to finishing

Love the fit and love the buttons, more later.

this season, I my attention is drawn to vintage patterns, mostly the 60's era
this 1961 Vogue is my latest
I am thinking of a summer weight linen
but I am still undecided as to fabric
this project may warrant a trip into the city for some fabric shopping since I am excited to start this pattern

on the topic of fabric, I want to use these curtains by either remaking them or finding a use for the fabric

In my last house, I was able to use them as curtains but I only have one pair
and my current house all the rooms have several windows
One idea was to recover a chair but since it is a mural type fabric, it is hard to use
Maybe by having it out of the fabric cabinet, something will come to mind.

itsy bitsy fabric

cleaning my studio, a pile of tiny fabric scraps started to accumulate
before long, I forgot all about cleaning and this fabric panel formed
it is made by sewing small scraps of fabric onto a base cloth
which I then quilted heavy in a quilting graffiti type of work

there wasn't a plan on how to use this panel it just kept growing
I am now thinking I need to make another and use it as material to make a vest

the fabric panel is dense so I think it may be best used this way
