vintage wallpaper and Ikea
This weekend was spent putting together these cute Ikea storage units. They stack nicely and I have 5 units that will be bolted into one tall stack. I had thought about papering them all alike but I have decided to finish each one with a different vintage wallpaper.
I absolutely love vintage wallpaper and covet it so much that it is hard to use in larger projects. The old wallpaper makes the new Ikea pieces look like the old lingerie pieces from the 40's don't you think! Don't you just love all those small bins.
I have these stacked on an old bench that was painted and a quilted skirt added along the bottom. A good way to hide the modem and router with ugly cables that are underneath the bench.
Feeling very Martha today.
just added: I should have known this before I started but these wood boxes need a light sealing before papering...duh. I learned on the first one that a light coat of paint or a varnish will make the paper adhere and be smoother.
OH MY GOSH! Love them! I have one of these boxes and I also have lots of wallpaper! I'm off to find some scissors....and glue!
PS. I always love your photos and posts! ; )

Love those - IKEA has such great unfinished wood storage pieces. And great prices too! That is exactly what I am planning to do with all of my craft "stuff" when I get to my studio project. I can't wait! You inspire!

What a great idea! These look so vintage, you would not think they are new and Ikea.
