fabric has always had that kind of hold, capturing me in a web of warp and weft time and days slip by as I work my way through the fabric journal using all those special little scraps of fabric that I have been setting aside, collecting for something special like the small sample of a lovely textured dupioni silk this is a textural journal, running my fingers over the bumps and lumps caressing the silk playing with color and patterns then finding combinations that are pleasing to my eye last week, I tacked pieces of vintage 60's wallpaper from my collection to the studio wall and I have been finding inspiration in the colors and the psychedelic patterns I think I may add a shelf to this wall with a strip of wood to make it easier to switch out papers and fabric and it has not been all fabric, all week at night, I work in my daily visual journal playing with some color combo's and finding faces in the globs of paint
this morning as I was preparing the photos for this post, I remembered a photo of Ralph the Dog and one of his favorite babies. The picture below was taken a couple of years ago. I think I see something familiar in last night journal page and Ralph's froggie baby. How funny is that!
another day of triple digit temps, so what better way to beat the heat than to stay inside and play with fabric the fabric book is getting thick who knows when I will call it done but I think there are at least 10 more pages in it's future not counting the cover a mix of vintage and new fabrics one of my favorite pages lots of hand stitched big fat french knots an old quilt block I had been saving love sitting in the AC doing repetitive hand stitching and machine stitching is also good
what started out as crazy quilt has turned into fabric graffito a fabric graffiti journal - I like that this page may be finished or maybe not I am thinking it may need something
some may appear plain but my eye needs a break every few pages from the craziness this one has an old mock up that I made years ago for an embroidery monogram that I was testing on my sewing machine
glittery beaded fabric from a vintage dress my skin was scratchy and crawling by the time I finished with this page I think who ever wore this dress may have gone insane by the end of the night who could wear such a fabric
