What a great idea. Beautiful end result. I agree it is hard to throw out scraps and this is a wonderful way to make us of them.

Thanks for sharing...they look great...I just started sewing paper last week and it's addictive...i went out and bought a machine that has 100 different stitches....it's raining and i'm home sick..if i feel better i know what i'm doing....do you use mostly vintage papers?

Robin

sigh.....right now I can't even GET to my sewing machine.....the table in my art room is covered.....but wow......you've inspired me to clean it off in one sweeping motion and get started on my scraps! Beautiful pages!

Patty, you are such an inspiration! I can see that I need to save more scrap paper. My studio is much too neat! I love what you've done with these and they look so inviting. Thanks for the peeks at your juicy pages.

After I thought a bit more about it I figured the some were glued and some were sewn. As I was working last night I kept reverting to aiming for a completed journal page or collage which is NOT what I want to do yet. I just want to play and use the table scraps. I scored 2 wallpaper books yesterday by asking at the paint store, and found some strange ledger paper at Goodwill this morning.

I love these crazy quilt pages! You will never run out of paper...ha! I'm making two security envelopes books...how many envelopes did you use in the one that you are showing in the video? I'm making two for gifts but I'm not sure how fat to make the book.
Cheers,
Mary

Patty, I've been a silent follower for quite some time, a huge admirer. I just wanted you to know how much your work inspires me. I love old paper and fabric. Yum. And you bring it all together in such a beautiful way.
So I haven't sewn my collages yet and was wondering what needle you use, and your thread preference. I'm going to give it a go.

donna!ee

yes, yes...
thanks for sharing this wondermous solution to my boxes of scraps... cheers for scraps into crazy backgrounds!

Patty, do you simply start sewing paper to paper or do you have a background paper to which you collage/applique the bits and pieces? I love the look of these pages which is sort of like the scrap quilts my grandmother used to make from the good bits of old worn-out clothes. I must try this.

Avital

It looks uber-awesome!!!
