The pieced New York Beauty Pillow top is now ready for my favorite part - the machine quilting.
(the stripe border is a couple inches larger on all side and will be trimmed after quilting. Adding a couple of inches allows for shrinkage of the top with quilting and the extra fabric gives something to hold on to when quilting the border)
a new journal started - made from a "vintage" Ramones album Seeing the Ramones in the 70's at CBGB, literally changed my life and at that moment I realized that everything is possible. and in keeping with a Ramones theme, I added another tag to my military bag. This is my everyday bag, that has turned into the only bag that I use. What I especially like about this bag is its always changing appearance and I add whatever I find as it comes my way. No one "gets it" but that is fine the bag as it is today at this exact moment
It's not that my Kindle needed a case but more that I needed an reason to make another small quilted project. A good jelly roll project. I used Moda "Kansas Troubles Favorites 2 and Sweet Pea - Kansas Troubles Quilters". the back I love zippers! Since I am probably the only one in the world that doesn't have a cell phone, I didn't need a compartment for it, just my reader and a few little pockets to tuck some money and an ID. I take my Kindle everywhere, so this case can be used like a clutch but still small enough to tuck into a bag.
my favorite vintage my favorite one that I made this one I use every day by my sewing machine
a good tip: I put marks on my sewing machine needles with a sharpie for every hour they are used. A good way to get the most use out of a needle and keeping the old ones for crafting guerilla and paper sewing. pincushion for travel made from a pill bottle
I loved my first generation Kindle and I didn't think I would ever need to upgrade it. That was until I was given a Kindle Paperwhite, the edge light makes reading in the middle of the night possible, small size easy to hold and perfect to tuck into a pocket, a gentle tap to turn pages, it is hands down the most incredible reader.
