When I was little I loved May 1st. Every year a certain little boy would knock on the door and quickly run away, leaving a May Day basket. Sometimes they were hand made and some years they were the color foil baskets, but always filled with daisies and some candy. May Day soon became a tradition even though we were married and young adults, I could always count on a basket of daisies and some tasty sweets every May 1st.
But if ever anyone was a needin' a May Day basket it is this fellow. Growing up I learned a healthy respect for rattlesnakes but I can not image coming home to this big boy waiting for me on the front porch.
I know I am a bit late on a May day post, heck I even missed Cinco de Mayo but I am just catching up with the local paper and saw this photo.
Lucky for that rattlesnake it didn't come to resting on my front porch for it would have just killed itself to be free of my high pitch screaming.
With the cool spring weather, I was able to put off sandal season for a couple of weeks. But now it is time to take the advise given to me by a wise dolpin. Although I now consider dolphins just a bit rude (see April 27th journal page below). I will take the comment, go get a pedicure and put the boots on shelf in trade for sandals.
You got to admit these are just about the best boots ever and if I was young enough and had good long legs or lived in California ... well I would wear them with shorts and mini's but I am not.
give me an old cloudy bottle any day
I have hundreds of old bottles, some filled, many waiting to be filed and a few cute newer ones to add to the mix.
many are filled with rosebuds gathered over the years, some are filled with rusty squished bottles caps (I can never resist picking them up), bottles filled with little trinkets...one bottle is filled with those tiny DAV license tags that used to come in the mail and a big old olive jar filled with fragments of old lace.
and lastly a big glass of diet Dr. Pepper to celebrate another completed journal. Soda always tastes better when it is in a Loteria glass.
(((drum roll)))
