Finally coming to my senses and committing to an industrial look for my studio.
In my cottage the rooms are small, but I am able to have an entire room dedicated as a creative space. The studio room is tiny being only 8 by 10, so space has to be utilized well.
Over the years, I have tried to use vintage or found furniture and it may seem like it will work but in the end it's just ineffective for me. The hodge podge of furniture justs adds to the clutter of my room.
What a joy it has been to design a space that has be completly refurbished with new wiring, fixtures and fresh paint. The walls were painted with a pale shade of grey that has a tint of green.
Too much time was spent trying to figure out how I was going to get everything is this room. My previous studio was three times larger than my current space.
While I was out and about this weekend, these heavy duty industrial pieces caught my eye and I decided they were perfect for my studio.
Two wall units and this rolling cart for storage of supplies makes for my ideal studio space. A custom desk and work table is being designed. I still have shelves to put on the walls and hang stuff. I am also thinking of making curtains from vintage barkcloth to soften the industrial edge of the room.
What a pleasure to have drawers and cabinets that will handle the massive weight of paper and supplies.
I love it!
