The first fig of the season.
I have been keeping a close watch on the figs as they ripen.
There has also been a squirrel who has been keeping an even
closer watch.
It is so rewarding when once in awhile, I can outwitt a squirrel. To the watchful belongs the figs.
I just planted a black fig, it is tiny and I am rewarded with one fig this year. I also have squirels and palm rats to contend with. One or both is cleaning out my tomato plants....grrrrrrrr!!!!

Good for you! I watched the figs ever so closely, & I got ONE :-) But with the drought, the critters needed them more.

Good job on nabbing the fig - I hope it's tasty. I'm currently on Peach Patrol, along with a bunch of birds and the lone possum who patrols the fence at night. Wish me luck...
