I really love this piece of hand dyed fabric but wasn't sure how to cut it up and use it. Since I didn't seem to be able to cut into it, I decided to quilt it as a whole cloth quilt. The quilting gave the fabric a nice texture and movement. The quilting is a gentle spiral with lines spaced 1/4" apart. Yes, a 1/4" - that's a lot of quilting. For me, the quilting isn't finished until the piece can stand up on it's own in the corner.
I used Superior Threads So Fine in a light lavender, it was perfect. Superior Threads is my favorite brand of thread from quilting to piecing. I never have any problems with it and their selection of weights and colors is amazing.
I have been dying fabric the past couple of days for a new quilt project. I love this type of dyed fabric especially when patterns like the hearts appear. here are some of my favorites from my latest batch
I am working on a new series of art quilts. The focus of this series is Urban Maps. I am quilting the Central Park and hope to finish it this weekend.
My holiday weekend plans are to be happily spent in front of my sewing machine. I can not think of a better way to spend three whole days.
Wishing all of you a safe and fun holiday weekend.
Thanks to everyone who has emailed me over the past few months asking how I am doing following my spinal fusion surgery. I have never felt better and feel 20 years younger. I feel good, so good, so good.
