I think this pink graffiti blouse is my fabric with it's big drapey collar and off the shoulder puffy sleeves.
Love this fabric and wished it came in other colorways, here are some sweet spots
the goal is to have three blouse (that fit well) before I start another non-clothing project

Love the pattern and color on this silk fabric and it made into a very nice blouse. This pattern features flat felled princess seams which was a bit of a challenge using the silk, plus I cut some pieces on bias which added to the difficulty. I have made this pattern before with a cotton and it was easier to manage. Quite a bit of seaming and matching of print but I think the effort was worth it.
The pattern fits nicely but I did reduce the sleeve cap, reduced the shoulder length and lengthend the bodice for a better fit for a better personal fit.

I made this jacket.
Kind of a Guerilla Chanel made with bits and pieces of mens shirts.
I added a mix of batting, interfacing and other materials to give the shirting fabric more heft. Some of it is just layers and layers of fabric. The jacket is quite substancial.
the back may not be finished, it's a bit plain.
I have learned the hard way not to over work the back because it can get painful when sitting in a chair or riding in a car with too much stuff on the back.
I wanted this to be a casual wearable jacket.
A very cheap jacket to make since it is mostly scraps.
The trim I pulled off a sofa that had been set to the curb, well washed of course after I brought it home. I wove elastic through the loops to give it more bulk.
Salvaged buttons with lions heads on them.
I cut up this giant caftan for the lining. Is that the correct term - caftan. Or should it just be called an enormous garment that really should have never been produced.

I was surprised how flattering it is espcially with just a t shirt and skinny jeans. My husband who typically hates this type of clothing even remarked on how much he likes this jacket.
My favorite is the ragged burnout velvet along the bottom
Isn't this the most incredible jacket.

It appears that all my current projects have rounded shapes in common.
This quilted bag was a good project for the Moda jelly roll collection. It matches the quilted box that I showed a few days ago.

The rounded shape of this bag shows off the quilt pattern nicely.
In between sewing projects and journaling, I have been working on this old steamer trunk that my mother in law gave me.
It was dirty and needs some serious refinishing,when no one wanted it, I quickly stepped up and claimed it as mine.
I forgot to get pictures in it's original condition. These photos are after I pulled and cut off the canvas that was covering the wood slats.
While removing the rotted fabric lining, I found that it was lined with old German newspaper, circa Christmas 1875. I spent quite a bit of time reading and translating some of the old ads. I especially liked the chocolate and candy ads.
I was only able to salvage fragments of the newspaper. The plan is to gently clean and then seal the paper. My original plan was to line it with antique wallpaper but I think the original newspaper will be nice.
When it is completed, I will use this trunk in my studio to old reclaimed fabric. I think it will be perfect to hold fabric and much nicer to look at than the big plastic tub I am using.
I even found a key in my collection and was able to get the lock working but I doubt there is a need to keep my fabric locked away.

perfect for scraps and I had fun playing with the hexagon - honeycomb shape and the little scrap of fabric with the tiny bee
I decided not to use any type of snap or button closure on the needle case and instead made the cover with Peltex, a very rigid stabilizer.

The fabric reminds me of ornamental corn and I am not certain if I like it. It is growning on me. The colors are a bit different than what I would typically pick out.
It was a good project for the Moda Jelly Roll that I was given to play with. It is the Love - Collection for a Cause.
What I really like about this project is how well the bag is finished, especially the zipper application. The attention to pattern design and bag construction.
I appreciate how well it finished on the inside as well on the outside.

The projects vary in difficulty, the instructions are sketchy but the range of projects is great, best for a more advanced sewing level.
I used a different quilt block pattern than the project in the book.

I don't think it's so much the bag projects that I am enjoying but the zippers.
Zippers are so fun.
I had a few scraps left over from the altered military bag
So I made a zippered pen and pencil case
with a fun lining
interesting zipper application, unzipped the bag lies flat
A modification to the original pattern as I didn't like the way the zipper finished out, so I changed it and then machine quilted the bag.
It's big enough to hold my favorite pens, some pencils and a pencil sharpener.
Plus, it looks nice so no need to put the case away.
